Generic Name: Acetaminophen and oxycodone hydrochloride 325 mg / 10 mg

This pill is white, capsule-shaped with an imprint “A333” and belongs to the drug class narcotic analgesic combinations. It contains an opioid (narcotic) pain reliever (oxycodone) and a non-opioid pain reliever (acetaminophen).

Acetaminophen and oxycodone are two different pain relief medicines with different mechanisms of action. Oxycodone works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain while acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increase effects of oxycodone and can also reduce a fever. Combined, they are used to relieve moderate to severe pain.

How to use acetaminophen and oxycodone

Follow directions on your prescription label.  Never increase/decrease dosage without doctor’s advice or use in larger amounts and for a longer period of time. Overdose of this medicine can damage your liver or cause death.

Never share with another person. This drug is habit-forming and misuse can cause addiction, overdose, and death.

Measure liquid form of this medicine.

Swallow extended-release pill, do not crush, break, or open to avoid exposure to potentially fatal dose.

Increase water intake and add fiber in diet. Acetaminophen and oxycodone can cause constipation.

Inform your doctor the following:

• If you feel you are pregnant, pregnant, planning to get pregnant or breastfeeding. This medicine can harm the unborn baby and the nursing infant.
• Medical history and medicines taken. This drug may interact with other medicines or may not be safe to use with other health conditions.
• Allergies to acetaminophen (Tylenol) or oxycodone, and other drugs.
• Some other allergies.
• If you intend to take other medicines or undergo surgery.

Use with caution in older adults and people who are severely ill, malnourished, or otherwise debilitated. This medicine may cause breathing problems.

Never crush or break an acetaminophen and oxycodone pill to inhale the powder or mix it into a liquid to inject the drug into your vein.

Avoid the following while under this medication:

• Dangerous side effects may occur.
• Driving or operating machinery and doing activities that require you to be awake and alert. This medicine causes drowsiness and dizziness.
• Medicine for cold, allergy, or pain. Taking these products together with acetaminophen and oxycodone can cause you to get too much acetaminophen which can lead to a fatal overdose.

Do not keep leftover medicine. Discard properly unused or expired medicines.

Keep this medicine in a secure place away from others. Misuse can cause addiction, overdose, and death.

Store this medicine at room temperature away from moisture and heat, away from children and pets.

Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur. Many people using this medication do not experience side effects, and for some, these symptoms go away with use over time.

Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor right away with the following symptoms:

• shallow breathing, slow heartbeat;
• a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
• confusion, unusual thoughts or behavior;
• seizure (convulsions);
• problems with urination;
• infertility, missed menstrual periods;
• impotence, sexual problems, loss of interest in sex;
• liver problems–nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or
• low cortisol levels–nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, worsening tiredness or weakness.

An allergic reaction is rare; however, get emergency help in case of these symptoms: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Report to your doctor any signs and symptoms not listed above. Discuss how to lessen side effects and how to determine other effects of this medication.
