IP 466

Pills with the identification marking of IP 466 are also known as Ibuprofen 800 mg. It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat, fever, inflammation, and other minor to moderate pains such as arthritis, toothache, back pain, sciatica, muscle pain, headache, and many more. Most over-the-counter ibuprofen pills come in 200 mg doses; higher doses are often prescribed by doctors and are used in adults and children who are at least 6 months old.

Ibuprofen comes in oral capsule, oral capsule liquid filled, oral suspension, oral tablet, oral tablet chewable and some as an intravenous solution.

Precautions

 Do not use this medicine just before or after heart bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG).

With long term use or high doses, Ibuprofen can increase the risk of fatal heart attack or stroke even to people without the risk factors for heart disease.

Its use can also cause stomach or intestinal bleeding which can occur without warning and which can be fatal.

Ibuprofen should not be taken if you are allergic to it, or if you have ever had an asthma attack or severe allergic reaction after taking aspirin or an NSAID.

Inform your doctor of any illness and the medicines being taken as these may have an effect to Ibuprofen or any of its components.

Do not use this medicine without a doctor’s advice if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Do not give to children younger than 2 years old without doctor’s advice.

Avoid taking with aspirin or unless prescribed by the doctor.

Avoid drinking alcohol as this may increase stomach bleeding.

While this medication works really well to relieve many different types of pain, there can be some unintended and unwanted ibuprofen drug side effects.

Side Effects

In summary, commonly reported side effects of ibuprofen include: upset stomach, mild heartburn, nausea, vomiting, bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, headache, nervousness, mild itching or rash and ringing in your ears. Some of the major side effects include: changes in your vision, shortness of breath (even with mild exertion), swelling or rapid weight gain, skin rash, stomach bleeding either coughing up or passing out bloody or tarry stools, signs of liver and kidney problem such as jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), clay colored stools, dark urine to little or no urination, painful or difficult urination, swelling in your feet or ankles, feeling tired or short of breath, signs of anemia such as pale skin, feeling light-headed or short of breath, rapid heart rate, trouble concentrating, and severe skin reaction such as fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

Signs of an allergic reaction to ibuprofen are sneezing, runny or stuffy nose; wheezing or trouble breathing; hives; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Signs of a heart attack or stroke are chest pain spreading to your jaw or shoulder, sudden numbness or weakness on one side of the body, slurred speech, and feeling short of breath.
